Mollie Lamont is a versatile screen practitioner working across cinematography, assistant directing, producing, and camera assisting on narrative, commercial, and music video productions. Her background reflects a grounded, collaborative approach shaped by experience both on set and in technical education.
Currently based in Sydney, Mollie works as a Technical Officer at SAE Creative Media Institute, where she supports emerging filmmakers with camera, lighting, and production workflows. This role has refined her technical skillset, deepened her understanding of industry-standard equipment, and sharpened her ability to communicate with clarity under pressure—skills she brings to every professional set.
Her camera department experience spans both 1st and 2nd Assistant Camera roles on short films, music videos, and independent commercials. She is known for her reliable on-set presence, organised prep work, and commitment to supporting the cinematographer’s vision. Recently, Mollie has begun transitioning into cinematography herself, leading small-scale narrative and promotional projects with a focus on purposeful visual storytelling and a collaborative, problem-solving mindset.
Mollie’s experience as an Assistant Director includes work on The Undesirables, Triple J Unearthed x NIDA, and several independent short films and promos. She brings calm leadership to set, balancing logistical foresight with the flexibility to support creative needs.
As a producer, she has delivered narrative and promotional work including Dolly’s Miracle Hoard (theatre promo), and was nominated for a short documentary edited for AACTA Pitch: Uncovered 2023.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Film from SAE University College in 2024 and has since shifted her focus from directing to cinematography—bringing narrative intuition, technical fluency, and a strong sense of visual rhythm to her evolving craft.
